The Goal of the month competition will be coming soon! So start saving your best goals in preperation for this :) Not completely decided how were going to run this yet but so far we have come up with.
Entries will be taken by sending in your goal save (via an x-port).
Referees will decide on the top goals of the month.
We will upload movies of the goals for everyone to view and vote on which is the best.
Hopefully we can acquire some prizes ;)
comments?

Great idea, i've been meaning to get an X- Port for a while, now i've got a good excuse!
Like the idea of PRIZES ;)
Will there be different catergory's like FREE KICKS, LONG RANGE, VOLLEY's OVERHEADS etc etc? or prehaps even own goals!

We'll have to see how many users and entries etc we get to see if we can break it up into categories.
We'll have to come up with some rules etc, I'm sure we'll come up with something cool :D

Will it be cheat-proof? I.e. if somebody is playing against the computer and the computer scores an absolute cracker of a goal, is there any way to stop the person sending in that goal and claiming it as their own?

All good questions I'm sure, any suggestions anyone! :)
We haven't really studied it all yet, but as people are sending in their saves then were going to load them on the ps2 and create movies of them etc.
When loading the save file on ps2 will I not be able to tell if it was the cpu? I haven't studied the files yet but I seem to remember it tells you what team it was with, times etc. I'll check if it mentions level and player etc. hope so :)
Anyone else got anymore ideas?

Replay files hold all the info you need, what team you were playing as and who you were playing against, who scored, who assisted, date, time, in what league or cup and at what level.
Also we definately need to split the competition up into different levels (five star goals- Four star goals....etc)

Top banana!
Does it tell if it was scored by CPU though? not that I think that the CPU could score as good goals anyway :)
Yup like the idea of splitting them up into levels, means the novices can still enter ;)

If you look at the top of the save details just below where it says replay inside a green border, it says the number position of your memory card then the name of the team you were playing as.

A beautiful goal is a beautiful goal. I don't agree with splliting the levels.
In real life, they don't divide it into different leagues.
BTW, who will be the referees? How do we select?

i know what u mean, but i disagree, u say a beutiful goal is a beutiful goal...now try say a neat 1,2 followed by a flick over the keeper.....now on level one, ure players can do this smokin fags, becaue of the AI of the cpu........now on lev 5, the defenders read these moves a lot easier.....hence this move now becomes harder to pull off.........so this then becomes a beatifuler(collins dictioary req) GOAL......yu see where i,m coming from now.

Have to dissagree with you on this GAZ, dont think it matters about free kick's but if were talking goals from open play, then thats a different matter. On level five the computer closes you down ALOT more effectively than on level one (bit obvious that) so there for on level five you have to work alot harder and be alot more creative to work the openings to score goals. I just think that should count for something.

PSW magazine are running a best goal competition where you have to send in your memory cards. I am sending in a card with several comedy replays, plus 3 25-yard scissor kicks and a 40-yard free kick. Nice.

wow but much asking people to send in the memory cards I think!!! I know I wouldn't send mine. Think we'll stick to x-port for now.

I like the idea of using the X-port, I have a few goals saved. I have a point regarding knowing whether the computer score, most of the time it is your team on the left (on the reply , but I have one I scored against a mate and because I was player 2 it put me on the right (just like the computer). So I don't think there is a sure fire way to know, :( . I also have to agree with SHOOTO! and Van Basten about the level with respect to the goal, in open play it is a lot easier to score on level 1 than 5. I scored a rocket with Bati from just outside the opponent side of the centre circle (if that makes sense), on level 1 though. Let me know when you get it set up, it sounds quality!

Nightmare, thats why you need to buy an x-port so you don't need to delete all your best saves.....

SPLIT THEM UP BY DIFFICULTY ONLY.
its like the divisions. you dont have barnet beating man-u in goal of the month do you?
free kicks, corners, open play etc WHO CARES??? its a goal. thats all that matters. just what difficulty it was scored on is all that matters.
the replay thing shows who you were at the time. so anyone who sends in cpu goals...
WE CAN SEE YOU SNEAKING OUT!!!!

I think we're gonna need separate sections myself..... too many people playing the game at different levels....

Goal of the Month is a great idea. I look forward to see some amazing goals from all of you guys.
I have one question, though, what is x-port. Another thing; when will we see hard disks in stores for the PS2's.
Seeing the plays is reward enough. Dont you agree?
