Should I turn to Fifa?

I haven't brought a Fifa game since Fifa 99 and have always been a PES man but have now decided to take PES 2008 for the PS3 back to get a refund. I have also just noticed that play.com are selling Fifa 08 for £25 on the PS3. Now I really can't quite deal with Fifa being any good but then again I would never have said PES would be as bad as it has been this time. What are peoples' honest opinions about Fifa 08 - or basically should I just wait and hope PES 2009 will be good?

Fifa 08 is good so I hear, I only have it on the PC, but personally I'm considering going back to PES6 on the PC.

i have both games for the PS3

if you want realism then fifa is where its at

if you want a more arcadey game but at the same time more unpredictable then go for pes

both are very good games especially in high definition

Do I know you? no.

Do I care ? no.

Even if I did know you, would I care? no.

Do what you want, it's a free world - just don't bleat on about it like an over hyped egotistically sycophant because it's making me nauseous

Why this attitude? Why people have to be so rude sometimes?
He's asking for your honest opinion about FIFA08 or PES09.
Is it wrong to assume that members around here know about FIFA08 or have already expectations/hopes for PES09? I don't think so.
Asking about FIFA doesn't make you less fan of PES. Why is to so hard to believe that some people are disappointed and they still want to have fun after all instead of sticking to a game they can't enjoy this year?
He wants the opinion of people who share with him the same passion for the same game and might be in his same situation as he is. They do exist, don't they?

Anyway, I don't have PS3 but I heard from a lot of people that FIFA08 on PS3 is a fairly decent game and a lot of fun. The game progressed a lot since 99 and you'll probably like it.

1 week after the release of pes2008 and people are already pining their hopes on 2009. It's crazy talk.

Plus, there's already a million threads on the same theme - no need to make another one unless you're just doing it to say, "look at me, look at me"

I say that pes2008 is the best game I've ever played and the online is the most fluid online experience I've ever had (well - there was that web-cam session with the danish girl, but that's another story).

And FIFA blows.

I have both PES 2008 & FIFA 08 (sorry for having this game ) for the PS2, and they are both great games.

FIFA has everything you could want in terms of realism, like licenses, tons of leagues, better music, better graphics, manager mode which is light years better than PES master league, and good gameplay.

PES 2008 is what we have come to expect really, not much change's, things get taken out of the game, but its still great gameplay.

Out of the two id say PES 2008 is better in my opinion just because of the gameplay, but FIFA aint close behind.

Hope i have helped.

I don't want to start a debate over nothing, quoting each other 10 times but he is not moaning about PES right now. You can tell he's not satisfied though, if that's the whole point.

Well, I see there are a few ignorant folks here with quite low self esteem.

Some, even try hard to sound intelligent by using words they THINK make them look superior, when in fact, it makes them look silly and desperate.

The OP asked a simple question. If you don't have an answer, move on to another thread and let it be.

Here's my answer: FIFA has always been a joke to me. I never bought it because EA did not deserve my money. I rented it each year and returned it to Blockbuster within a few days. I often wondered if EA really thought it was a good representation of the sport.

But, this year is different.

I rented FIFA thinking I would return it in a matter of days. I almost returned it on day 2 but decided to really give it a chance since I had no other game. Blockbuster had to call me to make me bring FIFA back. I held onto it that long.

It is a very, very good game. It is not perfect but it is darn close. It represents the sport faithfully and accurately. It makes me wonder if EA really made this game. They have made a statement that they are listening to the gaming community and they want to be the footie game to beat.

I have not played PES08 yet (ordered it from sendit.com, shipped on the 25th, still not here) so I cannot compare games but I will suggest to the OP that he get FIFA.
