Do you want a defensive or offensive player?

Kolasinac, Kimpembe, Nacho & Schmelzer are good defensive players I've used. Boateng too obviously.

I just realized I haven't even used a good offensive LB.. I always play one on the right side.

Marcelo, Sandro, T Hernandez, Jordi Alba, azpilicueta and carvajal are the most reliable left backs in the game.

I have Marcelo, Sandro and Alaba.
Marcelo is the best and after I used Sandro if he is on form and Alaba if he is not.

All the above is true. I’d like to make justice to my budget LB, using him since September to today in my A team: Gayá.

I have Bellerin in the other side and, being Gayá actually very fast, there is no other difference between the two other than the obvious superior speed of Bellerin. In fact Gayá is a little better dribbling and crossing. Made so many assists for Cavani.

from OP post, probably a speedy natural LB will do.
if you do not plan to let the LB attack, just put any of your CB there and switch the position to CB.

I use radu, one of the few defensive lb in the game. He also performs better as cb

i mainly use Marcelo and Alaba. I got marcelo from a free agent so had to start him from lvl 1 while i got alaba from level 30. Leveling up marcelo to 30 felt like too big of a task so i've just leveled up alaba who is at 91 OVR now.

I had actually thoughty Alaba would compare very favorably against marcelo in some stats without checking, but actually it looks like marcelo is clearly superior. Looking at the stats at level 30 im now a bit sad that i didnt end up leveling up marcelo. I thought alaba might have better kicking power and physical contact but actually marcelo is higher in both (81 vs 80 and 80 vs 62).

In pes16 alaba had better kicking power (87 v 81), def prowess (82 v 81) and ball winning (76 v 74) so i think the old stats were too heavily on my mind. Now Alaba really only trumps marcelo in speed but i dont really think having 86 speed is a big requisite for a good LB so overall Marcelo's stats are way better. But alaba's form (7 vs marcelos 5) is a little comforting. He will be a good bench player after form updates stop, especially since he is adequate in all of RB, DMF, CMF and LMF too.

Alaba would have been my first choice in previous years. I noticed using him in co op that he wasnt the player he was in previous editions. Seemed light weight.

Just converted a lvl 1. Nacho to trainer. Ach, I'm all about defensive full-backs anyway.

Taking in consideration the random forms than the first ability you should look for is FORM 6+, after choose whatever you like from those. For example Baines, his form is 8, stats don't really matter since this guy will be Blue 50% of the matches and 40% on B or C. Again Azpilicueta will ROCK, from silver Criscito is very good, Eliseu, Andre Almeida plays well as LB.

I much prefer to use fast CBs who can play as fullbacks like Nacho and Azpi, because they can catch up to speed merchant wingers and have much better defensive abilities than most other fullbacks so they can either steal the ball from dribblers or block crosses more effectively. I keep them back almost always. But that is just my playing style.
